Pro Arté Centre requires all students to adhere to the regulation uniform for each class. In all cases, no jewellery should be worn (other than small stud earrings). Hair should be securely tied back off the face and in a bun for Ballet. Students in the pre-professional programs must also acquire a Pro Arté track suit for community and festival events.

Uniforms are critical in developing a sense of team and community which is a significant experience in the dance studio.  Dance is more than an individual effort, it is the efforts of the whole group; wearing a uniform creates unity and promotes a comradery that is tangibly demonstrated in and through the dance performance. 

For the convenience of our dance community, uniforms are available for purchase through the Office during regular office hours. Uniform requirements for individual dance disciplines are as follows:

Ballet

Creative Dance: Red Pro Arté regulation leotard dress, pink ballet slippers, pink ballet tights or socks
Pre-Primary/Primary: Red Pro Arté leotard dress, pink canvas or leather ballet shoes, pink tights or ankle socks.
Grades 1/2: Red Pro Arté tank style leotard, pink canvas or leather ballet split sole ballet shoes, pink tights.
Grades 3/4/5: Red Pro Arté spaghetti strap style leotard, pink canvas or leather split sole ballet shoes, pink tights.
Grades 6/Intermediate Foundation: As above, option of additional major style red Pro Arté ballet leotard, pointé shoes.
Intermediate/Advanced: Pro Arté major style red leotard, pink tights and pointé shoes.

Modern

Primary: Red Pro Arté leotard dress, bare feet.
Grade 1/2: Red Pro Arté tank style leotard, black Pro Arté shorts.
Grades 3/4/5: Red Pro Arté spaghetti style leotard, black footless tights. flesh tone “foot undies”.
Grade 6/Advanced: Red Pro Arté major style leotard, black footless tights, flesh tone “foot undies”.

Jazz/Lyrical/Stage

Jazz 1/2: Red Pro Arté tank style leotard, black Pro Arté shorts/black Pro Arté jazz pants, black slip-on laceless jazz shoes.
Jazz 3/4: Red Pro Arté spaghetti style leotard, black Pro Arté jazz pants, black slip-on laceless jazz shoes or lyrical footwear.
Jazz 5 & up: Major Pro Arté red leotard, black Pro Arté jazz pants, black slip-on jazz shoes (beige as well for senior lyrical jazz) or lyrical footwear.

Tap

Primary: Red Pro Arté leotard dress, black Oxford style tap shoes.
Grade 1/2: Red Pro Arté regulation tank leotard, black Pro Arté jazz pants, black Oxford style tap shoes.

Other Essentials

Socks, tights and other forms of underwear are considered “personal” items and are the responsibility of individual students if a costume calls for such items. Several articles of clothing/effects are worth the investment for the older dance student. They are:
• A Nude “Second Skin”
• Black and/or Nude Fishnet Stockings
• 2.5” Character Shoes – with rubber soles

Please Note: “Black Thursday” dress code applies only to Intermediate and Senior CBM/JCM Students. “Coloured Leo Weekend” is for CBM/JCM Students, if allowed. Check with your teacher.
