Tuition 2010/11

Payment Options

In order to make dance training assessable to all families, there are a number of payment options and discounts available to Pro Arté students. Late registrations are pro-rated according to calendar start. Class Fees for individual classes will vary slightly to reflect holidays as there are no regular classes run during school or public holidays. All Fees are exclusive of HST.

Dance Fees:

Payment for classes can be made in the following ways:
  • Cheque: A deposit is due at the date of registration (2 months plus registration fee) followed by eight (8) post-dated cheques dated October 1st through to May 1st. All cheques must be received before registration can be confirmed. All NSF cheques are subject to a $30.00 administration charge.

  • Credit Card – A deposit is due at date of registration (2 months plus registration fee) and eight monthly transactions are processed October 1st through to May 1st. All declined credit cards subject to $5 administration charge. This charge will be added automatically to your next payment which will be processed 7 days after the decline of the initial transaction.

  • Early Registration Discount:

Early Registration Option: Register before July 15th and receive 3% discount if annual fees are pre-paid in one lump sum by cheque or credit card. This discount will be retracted if a refund is required mid-year as it applies only for a full annual term.

    Sibling / Family Discount:

A 10% discount will apply to the total amount before GST for any siblings after the primary registrant (child doing the most classes) has paid regular fees (and/or parents of students). This discount does not apply to the Pre-Professional Program students or students receiving scholarships. Discount is not inclusive of registration fee, festivals, examinations or performance fee. This discount must be applied to the sibling with the lesser number of classes. No sibling discount can be applied to students whose sibling is in the Pre-Professional Programs.

  • This page will be updated with the 2010-2011 tuition fees shortly.

    Pre-Professional Program Fees:

These programs are by audition or invitation only and are for serious and focused students. Students receive a Pro Arté scholarship to help subsidize the higher requirement of hours demanded per week. Pre-Professional Program fees are based on the number of weekly dance hours in which a student is registered.

In consideration for reduced dance fees, Pre-Professional Students are expected to be present at all classes and rehearsals and will commit to examinations (if recommended by their teachers). In addition, festival/competition and costume fees are assessed as appropriate throughout the year. A slightly higher discount is provided to the students in the JCM/BMM Pre-Professional Programs as the examination and competitive requirements are financially more demanding in these Majors.

    Costume Rental Policy:

Pro Arté has a system of costume rentals rather than requiring the parents to purchase all costumes outright. Rental fees allow Pro Arté to continually upgrade and maintain its costume library while making the cost reasonable to the parents. A rental policy, though, depends heavily on the cooperation of all. Please remember that the making, laundering, repair and upkeep of these costumes are costly and time-consuming processes. Other schools have a purchase policy where each costume is purchased by the parent at an average cost of $80 to $150 (or more) per costume. Tutus can cost between $500-$1,500. Other schools charge parents the material and cutting costs and leave it up to each parent to have the costume sewn–up or tailored – as you might imagine, this can be even more costly.

While it would be far easier to Pro Arté to bill parents for the whole cost as a purchase, we realize that this gets financially unmanageable when your child is in multiple classes or you have more than one child who dances. It is our hope that the rental system will make dance less financially burdensome for our parents - our desire is to continue to make well-made and well-designed costumes available to our dancers at a reasonable cost.

    Festival/Exam Fees:

Festival Fees apply only to students in the Pre-Professional Programs. These fees include festival entry fees and, in the case of competitive work outside of regularly scheduled competitive classes, choreography fees and studio rental costs.

Examination fees apply only to those who accept an invitation to partake in an examination and will included an exam fee, exam preparation classes and pianist fees (ballet only).

There is a no refund policy on both Festival and Exam Fees charged.
