Student Achievements

2009-2010 Dance Year


Highlights from the year include the trip to the YAGP Regional Semi-Finals in Dallas with Kara Chan, Chloe Campbell and Jodi Herron placing in the top 12; Kara Chan, Chloe Campbell being in the top 3; and the “Form or Function” trio being invited to the New York Finals. Brooke Williamson, Danielle Lee Hogervorst, Rachael Withers and Annika McFarlane were selected for outstanding student for the New York finals at the Portland Regionals of the New York Dance Alliance; Amazing Grace was chosen as the Critic’s Choice award. Nine students were selected for the Vancouver Ballet Society Spring Seminar with Kara Chan, Brooke Williamson, Emma Little & Chloe Campbell all winning scholarships. Kara Chan (Ballet, Brooke Williamson (Jazz) and Rachel Withers (Stage) being selected as Provincial representatives for the Pacwest & Surrey Festivals. Three out of the top 4 solo awards at Dance Power were won by Brooke Williamson, Alisha Ahmadi and Stephanie Jamieson.

We also congratulate all the individual successes at Surrey Festival of Dance, Pacific West Festival and Dance Power that are too numerous to list. Overall, however, the best part of the season was the gracious and supportive spirit our students displayed backstage to each other and other schools. Thank you!!!!


2008-2009 Dance Year


Kara Chan and Danielle Lee Hogervorst from North Vancouver’s Pro Arte Centre took top honours in Prince Rupert during the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival held at the end of May, 2009. Dance Festivals from all around the Province select one student in each category to send as a representative.
Kara and Danielle represented Surrey Festival of Dance (one of the largest dance festivals held in North America). After an intensive week of dance classes, workshops and solo performances, Kara went on to win the overall Intermediate Classical Ballet award and Danielle Lee Hogervorst, the overall Junior Stage award.
